EAVE
Producers Workshop 3, 2009 in Cardiff, Wales
EAVE is proud to announce that Cardiff will be the location of the 3rd EAVE Producers workshop
in 2009 held in partnership with the Film Agency for Wales
from November 16-23 at the hotel St. David’s Hotel & Spa. This
workshop will be the culmination of a year’s work during which 51 participants from 27 European
countries have been developing their production skills and
projects (32 projects
in total). Following the workshops 1 & 2 in Luxembourg (L) and
Milan (IT), this workshop in Cardiff focuses on the direct contact with
the international marketplace through one-to-one encounters with key
decision makers.
In addition to the 32 projects developed during the year at EAVE, 6 projects from Wales and
Northern Ireland will be presented in Cardiff. These are
the result of a special “Taste
of EAVE” programme organized by the Film Agency for Wales
Wales, Skillset Cymru and Northern Ireland Screen and EAVE since
September together with EAVE group leader Roshanak Behesht Nedjad.
Some 50 high-profile
European professionals from the industry will join the workshop as

Focus on
local production: The schedule also includes a panel on Producing in Wales,
as well as several screenings of local films such as the documentary
MUGABE AND THE WHITE AFRICAN, produced by EAVE 1998 graduate Elizabeth
Morgan Hemlock, and A BOY CALLED DAD, produced by EAVE 2004 graduate and Welsh
National Coordinator Mark John.
During a special case study, EAVE
graduate Tomas Leyers (Minds Meet, Belgium) will give
insight into the success story of the project he brought to EAVE in
2006, LOST PERSONS AREA by
Caroline Strubbe, which has been awarded the SACD Prize at the Semaine
de la Critique in Cannes this year.
A special “Mini-Eave”
with sessions, tailored to the requirements of the local professionals,
will be organised. EAVE group-leaders Diana Elbaum will
talk about how to approach Co-production
in Europe and EAVE expert Sibylle Kurz will
explore important aspects of Pitching:
Lust or Must?. EAVE finance consultant Linda Beath will
give an overview of Co-production
finance in Europe and Welsh MEDIA Antenna representative Judy Wasdell will
hold a plenary on How to
access European Funding? Additionally, all the plenary
sessions of the workshop are open to local professionals.
