MY LOVE, written by Lévon Minasian and directed by Aram Shahbazyan.
Also in development at Boa Films is Lévon Minasian's short film THE
PIANO, financed by France 2 and the CNC. Shooting is planned for July
2010.

- The documentary film BOHEMIA IS GREEK TO ME (BÖHMISCHE DÖRFER) by
EAVE 2000 graduate Jana Cisar, which was developed with the support of
MEDIA, has received funding by the ‘Deutsch-Tschechischer
Zukunftsfonds’, an office for compensating victims of nazism in the
Czech Republic.

- TorinoFilmLab has granted six of its 20 training participants from
2009 a Development Award – the acceptance into the Lab’s Development
Programme. Three of them are EAVE producers:

- Petri Kotwica’s third feature RAT KING, produced by Kai Nordberg
& EAVE 1999 graduate Kaarle Aho of Making Movies Oy, is set to
shoot in Estonia from May 2. The producers received the Screen
International Best Pitch Award at Tallinn’s Baltic Event Co-Production
Market last December. Making Movies has a second production in
development: the children’s adventure film Tigerheart, directed by Aku
Louhimies, which will begin shooting in August. Belgium-based Sagafilm
of EAVE 1998/99 graduate Hubert Toint will be a partner on the project.

Filmproduction has several documentaries in production as well as the
features ABENDLAND and UNSER TÄGLICH BROT. For the latter, the team has

- EAVE 2007 graduate Edward Porembny is starting his documentary HERE I
AM in co-production with HBO Central Europe. The film is about in vitro
fertilization and surrogate mothers, who are paid to give their child
to desperate couples.

- HEMLINE (GRENZNAHT), by director Peter Zach in co-operation with the
Slovenian writer Aleš Šteger starts shooting. Executive- and
co-producer is EAVE 2000 graduate Jana Cisar. The „Road Movie within
walking distance“ tells about experiences with borders in many senses:
linguistic and human borders,as well as borders of nature and
mentalities.

- Elle ne pleure pas, elle chante, the first feature film by Philippe
de Pierpont is co-produced by EAVE 2007 graduate Isabelle Truc’s Iota
Production, EAVE 2008 graduate Ellen De Waele of Serendipity Films,

Perspective Films. Shooting started on February 1 in Luxembourg and

Gopo National Film Awards
Radu Jude's THE HAPPIEST GIRL IN THE WORLD (producer: EAVE 2007 graduate and Romanian National Coordinator Ada Solomon) topped the nominations for Romania's Gopo national film awards with 11 nominations, followed by Corneliu Porumboiu's POLICE, ADJECTIVE (producer: EAVE 2008 graduate Marcela Ursu) with ten nominations. The Romanian-Hungarian-British co-production KATALIN VARGA (executive producer: EAVE 2008 graduate Tudor Giurgiu) has seven nominations, including Best Film, Best Director (Peter Strickland), and Best Leading Actress. February Highlights
- Locarno OPEN DOORS: save the date!
EAVE is delighted to continue its partnership with OPEN DOORS taking place from August 7-9, 2010 during the 62nd Locarno Film Festival (August 4-14, 2010).
At the same time, the newly launched ‘Locarno Industry Days’ will be organised.
In 2010 the OPEN DOORS section will focus on the regions of on central Asia: Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tadjikistan and Turkmenistan.
Around 10 projects will be selected and the directors and producers of the chosen projects will be present in Locarno and available for pre-scheduled one-to-one meetings. The selection will be announced in Cannes and the project information will be available online in a protected area of the Locarno Film Festival's website www.pardo.ch

BEYOND BORDERS is a training programme for creative producers from Africa and Europe organised by Huston School of Film & Digital Media (Galway, Ireland) and Sud Ecriture (Tunis)
