WHEN EAST MEETS WEST - TRIESTE CROSS-BORDER MEETING (January 26-27)
Within the frame of the Trieste Film Festival, the most important Italian showcase of Central-Eastern European cinema and audiovisual production, the Friuli Venezia Giulia Audiovisual Regional Fund, in collaboration with Antenna Media Torino and the festival, will set up the first edition of WHEN EAST MEETS WEST, a two day cross-border meeting aimed at gathering producers, broadcasters, markets and funds representatives from Eastern and Western European regions. For this first edition the main focus on the Western side will be on Spain, especially thanks to the precious collaboration with the CATALAN FILMS&TV. The main idea is to link the areas and the countries involved in the event, through round tables, master classes, and case studies (such as SLOVENIAN GIRL by EAVE group leader Danijel Hocevar). Every year professionals from different regions will gather in Trieste, making the Friuli Venezia Giulia a meeting place for Eastern producers keen to co-produce with Western ones, and vice versa. Along with fiction and documentary producers from Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Hungary, Spain and Italy, there will be broadcasters, distributors, festivals, markets, regional and national funds representatives, offering an insight into the production and distribution opportunities, as well as the financial sources available in the areas involved.
